Obesity among African American people in the United States: A review is an article that discusses the disparities of obesity among African Americans and other races. It further highlights that black women are disproportionally affected, regardless of their socioeconomic status (Loften et al., 2023). The article examines factors that contribute to this indicator. They include how those within the culture access food, whether they have safe places to exercise, adequate health insurance, and access to medications.

Obesity is an important indicator to address because it increases the risk for other chronic          conditions, including fatty liver disease, Type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. (Loften et al., 2023)
